Caring & Sharing

Council Member - Jill Steffan

St. Vincent de Paul Conference.
The society of St. Vincent de Paul is a charitable organization for volunteers who seek to serve God by loving others in a practical way.  The conference of the society comprises women and men, all actively involved in visitation to the poor, the sick, the lonely and those in need of help or advice of any kind, and budget counseling.  As a result of visitations, material help is often necessary.
Meetings are held every Monday at 7.30pm in the Parish Centre and new members are always welcome.

Hospitality Group.
This group is rostered on to organize and provide morning tea after the 9am Mass every Sunday.  This is a great way to get to know people, especially for those who are new to the parish.  New members are always welcome.

Social English conversation group.
The aim of the group is to help non English speaking people to understand and communicate in English in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere so that they can go shopping, visit the doctor and interact with all levels of the community at large.  Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, from 9.45 – 11.30am.

Loss and Grief support group.
This is a group of people who provide ongoing personal, caring support for people in our parish who have suffered bereavement.  There is an annual Prayer Service to remember and pray for those who have died in the past year, held every November.

St. Anthony’s Ladies Group.

The aim of this group is to support, socially and charitably, the members of the group, the Vincentian Community and other worthy causes.
They offer a rare quality of loyal friendship, support and understanding to each other and, as life-styles change for members, this takes on a particular significance.
The major charitable work is to make a yearly contribution to the Vincentian burse for the education of students to the priesthood and to offer the Vincentian community any assistance that might be required.  Other charities are supported in varying degrees according to their urgency and funds available.  The Club has a special relationship with women of other denominations, visiting their functions and returning hospitality with an Ecumenical luncheon each November.

Fraternity of Our Lady of Grace.
The founding members of this fraternity migrated to Australia from San Giovanni di Gerace, in Calabria, after the second world war.  This fraternity was formed at St. Anthony’s in 1954 as a result of their devotion to the Virgin Mary, the patron saint of San Giovanni.
The aim of the fraternity is to undertake religious, cultural, charitable and recreational activities for the spiritual and social benefit of the Italian community.

San Francesco Di Paola Association.
The association was formed by a group of people who migrated from Vazzano in Italy.  San Francesco di Paola is the saint of Vazzano and the aim of this group is to continue the traditional feast of St. Francis.  They also observe various social and religious events throughout the year.  Most of the surplus funds raised by the association is donated to approved charities.

Italian Ladies Group.
This group of ladies meet every Tuesday in the parish hall from 9.30 – 12.30, for social activities, conversation and support.

Tongan Community.
The aim of this group is to enable Tongan families to interact with one another, to teach their children their culture and to witness to their children good examples of Christian living.  The community raises funds to help the Tongan Catholic Church in Tonga and supports Tongan Seminary students in Australia.

Filipino Community.
This group provides music for worship once a month on the second Sunday of the month at the 6pm Mass.  They are also rostered on the hospitality group for morning tea after 9am Mass and meet for social activities, support and companionship.
